- Preventing Placement Breakdown
In 2007, KFCA undertook a project to identify the reasons that placements breakdown and provide guidelines on stabilising placements. (see more...)
- Literacy Project
A 6 month pilot project took place in Maidstone in 2006 where children and carers met in the Maidstone Library once a month. The objective was to improve literacy via encouraging children to read. This was subsequently followed with a project in Folkestone. (see more...)
- Improve Communications
We will continue to encourage the use of technology for communicating to the wide and diverse community. We encourage foster carers to attend Support Groups and take up training offered by KCC.
The KFCA has two representatives on the County Advisory Board; the KFCA is now an associated member of the Fostering Network and holds a seat on National Forum of Foster Associations.
The KFCA contributes to the KCC Newsletter. (see more...)
- Computer Project
The KFCA , in conjunction with KCC, has piloted basic PC training for foster carers . The first training program took place in November at Canterbury. The objective is to achieve hands on training to enable access to the internet and email. (see more...)
- LAC Excluded from School in Kent.
The KFCA undertook a project in 2006 to address the causes and preventive measures of LAC excluded from school. This was a significant project involving collecting and collating information from Education, Social Services, schools and foster carers. The end deliverable was a document produced by KFCA in conjunction with KCC Children Families and Education titled “Education of Looked After Children in Kent; Foster Carers Guidelines and Best Practice”. It defines roles and responsibilities, the exclusion process and support available. . (see more...)
