    Donations

It is the KFCA Committee’s intention to register as a Charity as soon as we meet the criteria and hopefully before the end of 2006.

The KFCA is not funded from public resources nor do we have a membership fee. We do benefit from practical assistance from the Children’s Services (Social Services) such as distribution of newsletters. We have also had small monetary assistance from Children Services in meeting some of the cost of the Annual General Meeting.

We anticipate that when we agree joint projects with Children’s Services, we will also address the issue of project cost.

The KFCA Committee endeavours to keep general overheads to a minimum. We did manage to raise sufficient funds from donations at the AGM to meet this years overhead cost (such as cost of this website).

Fund raising will always be an important issue to the KFCA and any volunteers who could organise local events or sponsorship would be more than welcomed by the committee.

There is one specific area where we will be pushing to raise money..... The KCC is more generous than some counties in meeting the cost of maintaining the children in foster care. However, like all public resources, budgets are limited and the maintenance does not provide for ‘extras’.

As carers, we try to provide the foster children with the same opportunities we would for our own children. But we cannot always meet these requirements. One glaring example is the cost of school trips. These are not covered by KCC and the maintenance allowance does not stretch to meet these. Unlike other children, we cannot apply for assistance in paying for school trips. Thus most foster children are excluded from school trips.

Similarly, if a foster child shows an aptitude for a sport, music or other hobby, we would like to encourage this which is not always financially possible.

It is the intention of the KFCA to raise funds to enable sponsorship of school trips or special activities where other funding cannot be found.

If you would like to donate to the KFCA please contact the Treasurer. Cheques should be made payable to the Kent Foster Care Association.
